Trying to get updated downloads
« on: January 12, 2018, 11:55:55 pm »
Hello out there.

I am stuck once again.  I am trying to download 16,09 and keep ending up with a blank page with two squiggles in the middle of it.

What am I missing here?

thanks,
John

Hi f5soh

When I click on the "here" I get a blank page with two squiggles on it.

I have a quad with Emax Bullet escs that are Dshot.  When I go to the GSC it shows Dshot 125 but it will not highlight when I click on it.
I read on the updates that version 16.09 might work with other Dshots.  I have been trying to download the newer boot loader and version 16.09.

It is quite possible I do not know what I am doing here.  I have been successful in the past in setting up CC3D but now so much has changed I am somewhat lost as I have fallen behind.

The "here" link is simply the link to the Wiki page, i wonder why you cannot display the Download page in Wiki...

DShot is only supported using the Next branch: You can try latest build at your own risk.

When I go to the download I get a message "No available application can open it".
What does this refer to?

The installer file (.dmg) for OSX can be downloaded here (16.09), for next maybe later someone can compile one.
About the message "No available application can open it", i have no idea... dmg is a standard file format for OSX.

Hi f5soh

Some success!  I have the 16.09 firmware installed.  It is on the last page so I know it is there.
I went through some of the setup and when it comes to the type of ESC there is a Dshot 125 but when I click on it it will not highlight.

I guess I have to figure out how to change mine to the 125.  I will start on that tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

One other thing I should ask......

As I said above the GSC has a highlight spot for Dshot 125 ESC's.  Is that functional if you have the Dshot 125's?  I read somewhere that LibrePilot does not support Dshot.

I am trying to figure out if I am trying to do something that is impossible.

hi John,

Are you sure you see DShot 125? I think it is OneShot125 you see there.

In addition to PWM and PWMSync, there are:
- OneShot (125, 42)
- MultiShot
- DShot (not supported in 16.09, you need next (*) for it)

These are (very) different protocols, and not just "variation" of "Shot" mode, despite the name.

(*) next is not something that you need to wait "next year" or anything like that, it is just generic version name for current development version.

Hi Mr_w

This helps a lot.  Your input is very helpful.
I thought I was very close to getting this quad in the air but I guess I am not.   It seems the changes and "improvements" in the electronics for quads is going much faster than my brain can handle at age 72.

I will have to figure out if my Emax Bullet ESC;s can be reprogrammed for the CC3d or not.  Or just buy different ESC's.

As far as I know you don't need to have specific ESCs. Most ESCs with BLHeli automatically detect protocol the FC is talking to them.
Just pick OneShot125 and you good to fly. Don't forget to calibrate them. And even Dshot ESC should work with OneShot125.

Hi f5soh  and others

I tried a couple of times to download the Next Package but it would not do it completely.

This is very embarrassing but I had all 4 motors plugged in backwards-the signal wires in the wrong side.

There is still something not right with the motors.  I can get connected, then arm it but when I move the throttle the motors "splutter" for lack of a better word.  The quad moves around on the floor with some spin one direction then the other. The throttle has to be about 1/2 up and there is no change in the speed.

Anyone come across this before?
