Revo card not connects to PC win7
« on: January 24, 2016, 05:11:04 pm »
when I connect my revo card to a PC win7, turns on solid green light and blue light is on too but it goes off and inmidiatly goes on each 5 seconds. PC not recognize it and no message, just a little sound at the same time that the blue light turns off/on. This revo card is a clone, it was purchased in banggood.

I had been flying with it in a 250 drone for about 30 days and had not been able to stop adjusting for a stable flight. The first 2 or 3 minutes flying , it had a shake approximately every 10 or 15 seconds. Then, the rest of the fly very stable and very good. I decided to change engines because they were too old to see if that solved the problem. The next step would be to change the ESCs.

So I changed engines, adjusted the parameters for they turned on at the same time, save the changes and went to sleep. Next mornig (yesteday), I had the no connection problem.

I've tried in 2 PCs. both with win7, and the same result. Solid green light and blue light that briefly turns off every 5 seconds. I think is not the PC, because I have a CC3D that connects ok, so probably is a hardware problem.

This I tell you, combined with another similar problem with an oplink card, makes me feel sad and disappointed with revo  :-\.

I would be very grateful if someone help me solve this problem.

It seems to be that it can not boot.

When I hit rescue, GCS does something. Then the blue light begins to slowly flash and continues for a long time, until I unplug from de USB port. When I re-connect to USB port, the same result that got before the rescue. Solid green light and blue on and briefly off every 5 seconds with a little sound.

with the revo disconnected, I press the "errase and update" button. After a moment, I get a message to connect the revo and when I connect it, a message saying thas is uprading and there is acction in the progress bar from 0 to 100%. Then another messages that says that it's re-booting and then once again the same result, solid green light and blue goes off and on again every 5 seconds with a little sound, the sound of "disconnect". The same sound that sounds whe I disconnect a USB memory. The message that says that "it's re-booting" never disappears, util I disconnect the revo from the USB port.

It seems to be that it fails when it is trying to boot.

Ok, if it briefly connect again and again you can try the resurrect firmware:

Flash and run the resurrection firmware:
- Run the GCS
- Unplug the board from power and USB.
- Go to the firmware tab in the GCS and press the Rescue button.
- Plug the board into USB.
- GCS recognizes the board in a few seconds.
- Press the "Open" button to navigate to and select the correct resurrection firmware opfw file that you downloaded.
- Press the Flash button to write the currently built firmware.
- It will start in a few seconds.  First it will erase, then it will write (flash) the firmware.
- When the flash is done, press the Boot button which will cause the resurrection firmware to run
- Let it run for 30 seconds at least.

This format the flash memory

Next you can reflash firmware:
- Disconnect board
- Upgrade&Erase button
- Connect board and wait.

f5soh, first thanks a lot for your help.
I followed all your instructions. The first part "Flash and run the resurrection firmware", all was ok. After the "boot", I left it running for more than a minute. The blue light and the orange, light were  turning on and off alternated. I disconnected the card and connected again and both win7 and CGS recognized the revo card. CGS displayed a message indicating that the software versions of the revo card and the CGS were diferents, so I proceeded to do the update.

I followed the second part of your instructions, "reflash firmware". I disconnected the revo board then pressed "Upgrade&Erase button", and then connected the board again and the "progress bar" was
filling up until it was 100%. A message was displayed indicating that the revo was going to reboot and after several seconds...

A message was showed:
"Timed out while booting. Press ok to finish, you wil have to manually upgrade the board."

And once again,  solid green light, blue light going off/on and the disconnect sound of win7 every 5 seconds.

I'm really baffled because  what I thought might be a hardware problem apparently is not . But it seems to be a software problem. However, this same card was flying with version 15.09 of librePilot for about 30 days and now  it does not like it. Very strange.

I tried with openPilot CGS 15.02 and the same bad result.

When I load the bootLoader f5soh send me (fw_revolution_resurrect2.opfw "CGS recognizes as ver 15.01-dirty"), the board boots ok. Unfortunately I don't have CGS ver 15.01 but I suspect that the board is going to work ok with CGS ver 15.01.

All versions before 15.02 are missing. If someone of you has CGS ver 15.01 or ver 14.xx I'll be very grateful if you send it to me.

I need to research about how to upgrade manually, so if someone of you knows how to do it, please tell me how or where I can find infomation about how to do it. Thanks in advance.

And once again,  solid green light, blue light going off/on and the disconnect sound of win7 every 5 seconds.

Maybe there is another hardware issue that prevent from booting.

Try the firmware attached and use Rescue/Load/Flash method.
Double check for alarms and if all is working.

FSoh, I flashed "fw_revolution_wdg_off.opfw" that you send me.

It is loaded and when I press the "Boot" button, the blue light of the revo goes off but win7 recognized and is listed as an USB device. This happens also when I disconnect and then connect it again to the PC's USB port.

At CGS, the lights at botom/right (like leds indicators), the ones that say tx/rx, all turn on, then inmidiatly go off and just the first one in the tx serie turns again on and remains on for about a minute. Then goes off. At win7, the device continues in the list of USB devices.

When I try to upgrade, with the "Upgrade&Erase" button, same result as before. It can not boot and it appears the message: "Timed out while booting. Press ok to finish, you wil have to manually upgrade the board."

And again connect/disconnect from win7.

In this case (only Tx with one bar) you need to reinstall Windows driver

I updated the win driver as you instructed me and get the same result.

I get the better results with "fw_revolution_resurrect2.opfw". CGS recognizes the board and although the
"GCS and firmware versions of the UAV objects do not match which can cause configurations"
message is displayed, I can modify and save some parameters. A red "x" appears on the "save" button but pressing it two or tree times saves the changes. The blue light and yellow light on the revo board  turn on/off alternating. When try to "update", it fails when is booting.

With "wdg_off" CGS no recognize it and shows no parameters of the board. The blue light of the revo goes off and remains off. However win7 list it as a USB device.

I've tried with "bu_revolution.opfw" I downloaded from "https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Downloads"
When boot, the blue light of revo board turns on and then begins to pulse. Just goes low intensity of blue light and then increases again end once again. Low/hight, low/hight, like a pulse.

CGS no recognize it and nither win7. But not connect/disconnect sound. Just one sound when I plug it to the USB port.

That a normal behavior after bootloader update, you may need to flash a firmware part.

When I flash "resurrect2"  all seems to be ok, except the message
"GCS and firmware versions of the UAV objects do not match which can cause configurations". And when try to "update & erase", fails to boot.

That's I'd like to try GCS ver 15.01 but I can not find it. Or ver 14.xx.

Try this resurrect firmware, 15.09 version:
https://forum.librepilot.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=208.0;attach=1180

https://forum.librepilot.org/index.php?topic=208.0

You may consider there is something wrong with your board, not a GCS issue or wrong version.
