I hope that, I use return home as a safety but need stable hold. If you add to this long range in a quad and you have a far return home situation (safety) in a bad position you drain the battery and crash (non symmetric quad, best aerodynamic performance in forward poor in other positions). Will be nice to have.

If you set in vtolpathfolloewrsetting > yawcontrol to movement direction, it's affect also hold position. Why? hold should be hold. there is some way that return home = movement direction and hold = manual or fixed yaw?

Try installing and setting your board using this GCS based on Next: LibrePilot-16.09+r551-g5be3aad_YawControl_i686.exe
Setting YawControl will be fine for PosHold and RTB.
