Erratic transmitter behavior in Librepilot
« on: August 10, 2017, 06:38:50 pm »
I am just setting up a new quad with an FrSky S Bus receiver (XM+ Micro) getting through the transmitter setup is a bit hit and miss but even when I do manage to get it to work and check the setting the sliders are going up and down in a very erratic fashion with no input from me. I've tried another similar receiver and the same things happening. The TX is a Taranis X7. I have managed to arm the quad but the slightest bit of throttle push the motors up to almost full throttle. Not sure what the issue is but any pointers would be appreciated.
Regards
Mike

Are the min/max set correctly for every input channel ?

Please post your config file using File > Export UAV Settings

When it asks you to, you MUST exercise all sticks, and used knobs and switches FULLY in all directions when doing the transmitter wizard.  Re-run the transmitter wizard.  :)

I did another setup last night and it took two attempts before I could get the sticks in the setup to follow the sticks on the Taranis. I made sure all the sticks were put to maximum throws. After saving the setup I closed the wizard and went to the inputs screen and sure enough, the sliders were bouncing around all over the place or a movement on the stick was jerkily followed by some slider movement

Receiver firmware matches the X7 firmware ?
I mean EU / no EU firmware.

I did bind FrSky S Bus receiver (XM+ Micro) with my Frsky Taranis X9D+ after flashing LBT firmware (for EU users) both to TX and RX. It was just needed for binding.
I don't think there is anything wrong with firmware on receiver transmitter if it's binding fine. I am flying XM+ just fine, there is no erratic behaviour related to that receiver.
It's probably your calibration, or configuration on either end. Check calibration, did you move the sticks as asked by the wizard ? Are your channels on Taranis configured in mixer to output to separate channels ?

Receiver firmware matches the X7 firmware ?
He would not see any movement if not bind, and it would not bind if firmware mismatches.

Yes it bound no problem but I'll check the mix settings etc. and let you know how it goes.

Don't forget to post UAV configuration like f5soh suggested ;)

Finally, thanks.
Almost thinking my posts was ignored. :)

Did you setup a flightmode in your X7 ? This mean assign a switch to a receiver output, like ch5
Your flightmode is using the ch16 that should be used for RSSI output, this mean your flightmode stabilization change according to the link distance.

About the Sbus erratic i encountered the same some months ago after a Taranis firmware update and a X4R-Sbus , all binded as previously but all channels with jitter. A new receiver bind solved the issue.

OK thanks for getting back to me I was work so couldn't get to the quad :). I'll try rebinding now and I hadn't set a flight mode but will do that as well and see what happens and let you know.

..aaaRRRGGHH!! nope not getting anything now in the setup wizard despite rebinding. I get telemetry message lost or found from the X7 but when it comes to moveing the sticks they are not moving, its as if the TX is connected but not sending anything back or the receiver isn't interpreting it on the board. I've double checked the confog screen and the main port is set to sbus. Whats puzzling is that the connection is so erratic sometimes it may work other times it won't ... never had this issue my other quads.

Maybe try to connect the rx though a different ports.

In this link click under the hardware sign with what ever board  that you are trying  to setup.

Battery must be plugged in for receiver to get power.  USB is not enough.

Some binding procedures also select the signal type (PWM, PMM, SBus, etc.) that the receiver will send to the FC.  That must match what the FC is configured to read from the receiver.

Battery is powered up with the lipo on the quad. This one is purely Sbus.
