Can not configure CC3D Atom
« on: October 16, 2016, 09:33:36 pm »
I have been trying to get a CC3D Atom configured in my FIXED WING and can not get any thing to work correctly. I am using the latest firmware, I can connect to the board. When I go into the Wizard to configure the Plane I get to the point where I have to hook up the battery and that is where the trouble starts.

When I hook up the battery the ESC just beeps constantly. When I go to the next step the motor goes to half throttle. When I try the slider that is supposed to start the motor, the RUDDER moves. I have all the wires connected properly according to the diagram. Also when I try the Transmitter Wizard that does not work properly at all. Do I have the wrong firmware? Has any one else had this problem?

Hi,

Whats the last version for you ? 15.09 ?

If you use 15.09, templates at Wizard end have a issue.
Motor still use the output 3 in template and should be output4.
To fix the template issue, go back to the Vehicle tab and hit save.
Here is an example how the outputs should be:
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Output+Configuration#OutputConfiguration-BanksandOutputs

You can also test / use the 16.09-RC2 :

I am running the latest firmware RC2.  I found what was wrong.  I did not have the outputs correct.  It is very hard for me to see the numbers on the case of the Atom.  I corrected the connections and was able to get the flight controller to respond correctly.  I plugged in the wings and the Ailerons were moving correctly when I gave TX input but they would move in the wrong direction when checking Stabilize Mode.  I am not sure how to correct the problem.  I tried checking the reverse box, but that had no effect.  I also am having a problem saving settings.  I click on the save button, but when I try to leave the page it keeps asking if I want to leave the page without saving.  I have been working on this project for hours today, and it seems that the more I mess with this the worse it gets.  I will try it again in a couple of days, I don't have that much hair left on my head as it is. LOL

Using the Vehicle Wizard, in servo pages you can see the Up/Down arrows.

At this point you should test/set the min/neutral/max for servos and also do a reverse if needed.
When the arrow says "Up", the control surface should move up in real.

I am really having a problem with this WORTHLESS POS BOARD.  When I tried to set up the controls to move in the correct direction and got to the page where it saves the settings and I click on the SAVE button it starts to work then locks up and says that it needs to be manually updated.  I am going to put this FC, OP GPS, and OSD up for sale.  Then I am going to get a APM FC that I know I can set up in Mission Planner and be done with it.  I have been working on this long enough, and my frustration level has been exceeded past the breaking point.

I am out of here.  You guys have a nice day and happy flying.

If the Wizard complains the board need to be manually updated, you may need to update the bootloader to v4.
Chinese cloners still flash the bootloader v3 since the start.

Without the bootloader v4 the reboot feature is not supported and give a timeout.

Thanks for the info, but I have listed the board and the extras I bought for it on RC Groups.  I am going back to the APM Pro.

You can maybe add to the list in RCG: the cheap "OP GPS" you sell cannot be used with the CC3D Atom.

Good luck.

I loaded the Bootloader V4 and got the board to update firmware.  The only problem now is the board will not save configuration settings.  When I try to set Flight modes and hit the save button I get a red X in the save box.  I don't think this CC3D Atom is ever going to work.  I plugged in the GPS and it does not show up in Libre Pilot.  I doubt that the OSD will even work.  I did not even try it, I am afraid I will brick the OSD just like I did to a previous one.

Libre Pilot might work with a regular CC3D board, but I really am tired of screwing around with the Atom.

CC3D or Atom use the exact same firmware and schematic.

About Save issue: Be sure the board is not armed.

If you want to use a GPS with a CC3D you may need to configure first using Ucenter. GPS should store his GPS config, cheap "OP GPS" at 11$ cannot do that.
All the procedure is described here:
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Configure+a+GPS+for+CC3D

and here:
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Setup+a+CC3D+for+GPS

OSD setup and firmwares are available here:

...

I seem to be having a similar issue with a CC3D from banggood. Getting the red no-go cross. Is that usually due to the board being armed? It would be nice if a text advice appeared, telling the reason for rejected save :)

EDIT: Yes, it seems to be caused by the board being armed. Now I know ;)
