Revolution doesn't boot
« on: December 29, 2015, 11:38:39 am »
Hello,

I have a problem with my new "Revolution board".
In first time I've connected my revo with "Openpilot 15.05.02" for update and to test my new board.
It was working well.

But after I have downloaded new "Librepilot 15.09" and I conducted the update, as requested by the software, it doesn't work.
When I connect the board with USB cable, Windows doesn't see my board and I hear the same sound like when I connect or disconnect USB key.

In the revo board, the power LED (green) is 'on' and the blue LED stay fixed, but when I hear disconnected sound on Windows, I see the blue LED 'off' just few milliseconds.

For helping you, I attached a screenshot with board version.

Thanks for your help.  :)

Maybe try the resurrect firmware attached, sometimes the flash cause problems.

From https://forum.librepilot.org/index.php?topic=208.0 :

Quote
Flash and run the resurrection firmware:
- Run the GCS
- Unplug the board from power and USB.
- Go to the firmware tab in the GCS and press the Rescue button.
- Plug the board into USB.
- GCS recognizes the board in a few seconds.
- Press the "Open" button to navigate to and select the correct resurrection firmware opfw file that you downloaded.
- Press the Flash button to write the currently built firmware.
- It will start in a few seconds.  First it will erase, then it will write (flash) the firmware.
- When the flash is done, press the Boot button which will cause the resurrection firmware to run
- Let it run for 30 seconds at least.

After running a while flash should be erased or "formatted" , you can flash normal firmware again

Did you erase the board ?

Erase procedure is not fast, can take 15 - 20 seconds maybe.

BL is version3 , so erase using BL at boot or auto reboot do not work.
Update to BL v4 first.

Quote
Update Bootloader and Update firmware

Download the appropriate bootloader (ie CC3D - BL4 or Revo - BL6) and save it to your hard drive where you can find it again,
Go to the Firmware workspace in GCS, and with the board disconnected from USB, click Rescue and follow the onscreen instruction to connect the board,
After the board contents is detected, click Open and select the BootloaderUpdater (BU) file from where you saved it on your hard drive,
The flash button is now enabled : Click Flash to flash it to your board,
After the flashing is complete, press Boot and wait until the blue LED is on, then flashes, and finally goes off (normally ±15 seconds).
    Wait 10 seconds more.
    Disconnect the board from USB.
Click Upgrade & Erase button and follow the onscreen instruction to connect the board to automatically install firmware and erase flash.
After the process completion, board become connected to GCS.

Usually a slow smooth blue blinking is a firmware missing.

but when i clicked Boot i got this message:

Attempting to boot the system through USB.
Could not enter DFU mode.

i repeated the U & E and got the time out message :see pic
The Blue LED is now Blinking @ 1 sec without fading
still cannot select USB on lower right next to Connect button

Or for others windows issues, try this:
https://forum.librepilot.org/index.php?topic=216.msg1437#msg1437

If after connect to USB you see a flash blinking sequence and next a slow like one per second, you board is working fine. But not your windows :)
