Vehicle control through bluetooth?
« on: April 01, 2018, 08:56:43 am »
Hi all,

It seems that a pair of bluetooth modules can be used for telemetry, while OPLinks are also needed for vehicle control. :o
I am wondering is it possible to realise vehicle control and telemetry only (by mobile phone) through bluetooth? ;) Leaving OPLinks omitted. ::)

Hi, possibly you can, but the range of flying would be very limited, like 20m max.
Is that what you want?

Thank you first. :D

Yes, I am a newbie and haven't own a radio yet, short distance control trial will fit me now.

When using bluetooth, is the connection like neither:
GCS(on Linux or Windows)->FTDI_USB_to_TTL->HC-06 --------> HC-06->RevoBoard,
or,
Libre2Go App(on Android)->FTDI_USB_to_TTL->HC-06 --------> HC-06->RevoBoard?

The hardware setup would be the same as for simple bluetooth telemetry.  Get that working first.

Then there is some setup to e.g. use a joystick on the GCS to fly the aircraft.  I have never done that though.

Libre2Go do not have GCS Control function like GCS using Linux, Windows, Mac have.
Connection would be more simple I think, like this
GCS (Linux,Windows,Mac)  -> built in Bluetooth unit --------> HC-06->RevoBoard.

If it has USB, then there are cheap USB to Bluetooth adapters.  I just bought one for USD $3.15 shipped and it arrived in 11 days.  The one I bought ?seems to? only come with Microsoft Vista and Win7 drivers, but my Linux Mint 17 saw it and used it with built in drivers.  Edit: The package says Windows 8 and Windows 10 on it.  The file timestamps are in 2012.

Yes, it has USB. :)
But my friend suggests me to have one RC for long-term use purpose. Then I searched and found somebody in the neighborhood selling one RC of his.  ;DSo finally, I received it today. ;D That is a Frsky Taranis Q X7 without receiver.

Thank you again. ;)

(Although no receiver with it, an external oplink module can perform as one, I thought. If any problem occurs, I will post it in other topic.)
