Flying with new motors and Esc's
« on: February 12, 2017, 04:04:59 pm »
Hi guys,

I took my quad this morning for a spin and had some vibrations and my motors are having issues over 45% throttle.

Anyone has an idea where to look first, appreciated.

I have found that when I needed to swap motors and ESC I needed to retune a little to get it the way was...

I can't see the video where I am right now...

Make sure your motor shafts and prop adapters are straight without props.  Run the motors at all RPMs without props.  If there is a vibration or bent shaft/adapter, fix it before continuing.  Don't assume that anything is straight or balanced, even if it is new.

Then balance your props.  Unbalanced props/motors do cause control failure!  Too much vibration and the gyros stop working and it flips or banks without being commanded to.

Thanks for helping out guys, Appreciated!

I had very little time to make this build work and there were few new additions to my regular builds.

I've used the latest LP release, installed few Blheli_S ESC's I had laying around and am using powerful 2206 motors with an excess of torque so I thought better ask around before I start messing with the build.

Cliff, that's a several great advises there which at the very first can verify it's not up to the 'mechanical' side of things and something to keep in mind in the future.

And I will certainly try to find the best Pids with easy tune.

Got few project's to complete after which I'll be finally able to spend some quality time learning all the fine details of setting up the rig.

Again, Thank you guys for pitching in on this, it helps a lot!

Best,
D.
