1000ms arming delay
« on: January 04, 2016, 08:46:21 pm »
I noticed there's a 1000ms delay set for the arming and disarming sequence. Is there a hardware/software reason for that or is it an arbitrary safe value?

You don't want it to arm/disarm accidentally.  The delay makes it less likely to do accidentally when slamming the sticks around for what ever reason.

I understand this for arming but, to disarm immediately is a nice thing... Its better to hit things without props spinning, also its safer in critical Situation, disarming is the fastest way to get a copter on the ground!

The defaults for most modes only require low throttle stick to stop the motors.  If someone changes options to change that, they should think about the ramifications.

Disarm has the same issues.  E.g. on a fixed wing powered glider.  Coming in for a landing with power off, you don't want a quick twitch of rudder to turn off stabilization?

Oh sorry forgot that many Users use stick command for arming, im using a switch on aux channel. With stick command the delay makes sense also 1000ms isnt really long.

Actually I also use an accessory channel to arm/disarm, this is mandatory in order to use AlwaysStabilizedWhenArmed (aka airmode with betaflight).
I'm using a shorter delay to disarm.
You can change all arm/disarm delays in System > Settings > FlightModeSettings.
