db 5883 mag chip

I've started a new job where I was trying to configure a quadcopter with a revolution board.
I found it in a drew waiting for me.

I understood it was missing the mag chip so I bought a hmc883 with l883 chip.
A db 5883 chip compass arrived.

Do you confirm it is not compatible? Is something changed in the meanwhile?

Thank you in advance.

I thought there was an enhancement for that, but I don't see it in next (the latest version).

Rather than buying mags, trying to find one that works, one solution is to buy a DJI / Naza GPS (must put a different connector on it) e.g. for about $21 on eBay.  It has the benefit of putting both mag and GPS on the same port and the mag chip type doesn't matter since you are talking to code in the device, not directly to the mag chip.  One down side is that there is an oscillation with this GPS because it smooths (and thus slows real motions in) the data.  A partial work around has been implemented and firmware is available on the forum.
