Rise RXS255 No throttle recognition on wizard
« on: December 11, 2018, 11:15:49 pm »
I switch this from futaba pwm to spektrum ppm and went to redo the wizard as I did with my futaba and now I can't get past the throttle part of the transmitter setup.  I made sure the receiver was plugged into pin 10 and reloaded the default rise rxs255 file.  After countless hours of messing around with it and looking through posts on here I can't get it to work.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

I guess this is a CC3D FC and you probably mean pin 8, not pin 10?

If CC3D, check to make sure you are using the correct CC3D pin, and be careful too if you are using OneShot

Futaba and Spektrum have different channel order, but if you use the LP wizard it should figure it out and work OK.

I hear that Spektrum satellite (just satellite) is a little difficult and that you need to bind with big receiver and satellite together before removing big receiver.  Satellite also needs 3.3V power, not 5V.

Edit:
- Are you saying that throttle works or not?
- One simple mistake is that you must plug in flight battery because USB does not power the RC receiver.
- With flight battery plugged in and transmitter on you can go to Input page and look for activity in upper left corner when you wiggle the sticks.  Some receivers put RSSI on some high channel number and that is seen as you moving the stick.  I don't know if Spektrum satellite does this or not.

It did come with a cc3d flight controller and oneshot125 speed controllers.  the instructions say to plug the receiver into channel 9 I'm using the spektrum spm4649t, and it says to plug the ppm cable into channel 10 on the adapter.  I did switch the channel order to the correct order.  The flight battery has been installed and on the wizard it does not recognize the throttle movement. I am running version 15.09 because the hobbico tech said for some reason with this drone it won't work with the new version, this was when i was using futaba and got it to work just fine. thanks again

I am looking at the link you sent me now and it looks like for s.bus i need to use the main port but for ppm i need to use the flex port.  This drone has an adapter for plugging in pwm connectors and an s.bus cable but that adapter must be installed in the main port and not the flex port is the only assumption i can make right now.

So does your receiver only put out SBus and you previously used an SBus to PWM converter?
Or your receiver can put out PPM and you want to switch to PPM?
This is a Spektrum receiver.  They sometimes use DSM.

the instructions say to plug the receiver into channel 9 I'm using the spektrum spm4649t, and it says to plug the ppm cable into channel 10 on the adapter.
Sorry.  This confuses me.  "plug the receiver into channel 9?"  Receivers are usually the things that you say have a servo channel, so this comes out like plugging a receiver into itself.  Maybe you are saying to plug the receiver into connector #9 on the adapter?
"plug the ppm cable into channel 10 on the adapter?"  So are you saying that you want to use the adapter to convert SBus from the receiver into PPM?  Why not just connect the SBus from the receiver straight into MainPort on the CC3D?

So you need SBus and not PPM going into CC3D?
SBus must use MainPort.  PPM can use either MainPort or FlexiPort.

So reading between the lines, you have an SBus signal coming from the receiver.  It used to go into an SBus to PWM adapter (which also can put out PPM) and the many PWM signals are plugged into the CC3D PWM input.  :)

Of course you could still use that.  I would probably use receiver SBus straight to CC3D MainPort.

so this is the manual for the drone...http://manuals.hobbico.com/ris/rise0255-manual.pdf I ended up taking the drone apart, getting rid of the adapter, and plugging the receiver directly into the drone.  Instead of importing the rise software I went through the entire drone wizard.  Everything went through fine until I got to the transmitter set-up and no response from the throttle to get to the next steps.

Flight battery must be plugged in because RC receiver is not powered from just USB.

I have had the flight battery plugged in on every attempt.

I just tried it out with futaba sbus on my 14sg and had no problems, there has got to be some type of setting that I am missing with this spektrum set-up

First thing, you should make sure what receiver protocol your receiver puts out.  You mention SBus, but Spektrum might be DSM.  Google your receiver model number.

Does the RC receiver use SBus protocol?  That must be plugged into MainPort.  Hand made cable from receiver to CC3D must be made correctly.

With it being so old, there is a good chance you need to update the bootloader.  You must "Upgrade & Erase" again after updating the bootloader.

Here are general setup wizard instructions, including about the bootloader.

i think it's srxl and after trying every different type of rx on libre pilot I have had no luck so I am just going to get a spektrum pwm rx as this is just something for me to learn on anyways.  thanks for the help, i've just had enough trial and error haha.

Well you could at least put the adapter back in and run PWM.

A quick search seemed to say that some places say it is SRXL and some that it is DSMX/DSM2.  You might be able to tell from the adapter markings, or adapter model number too.
