Very unstable take-off and crash
« on: November 23, 2016, 09:47:15 am »
Hi all,
I am working on a custom made FPV quad and I seem to have a problem to take it off the ground.
The problem is quite strange, when I increase the throttle, the propellers spin up and the quad does not take off at first (which is normal). But then instead of starting to take-off and rise slowly as you would expect when you carefully increase throttle, it just rockets super fast to the sky and is impossible to control so it crashes then.
Has anyone of you encountered such kind of problem ? I have set "Zero the integral when throttle is low", and "zero gyros while arming the aircraft".
Thank you all!
David

Does the throttle respond while it is climbing?  Certainly you reduced power when that happened.

The most likely scenario is that you have a very powerful quad and an invisible PID oscillation.  This is caused by PIDs that are too high.  Reduce your PIDs.  Cut them in half and see if that helps.  Or use stock PIDs.
