replacement OPlink antenna?
« on: July 20, 2016, 06:03:25 pm »
I broke the antenna on my my OPlink.  It is a 433mhz model from Bangood. It has an MMCX Antenna Connector.  The MMCX whip goes to a male thread, female hole, SMA connector.  Therefore the antenna needs to be female thread with the male pin.  Most of the wifi antennas and my fpv antenna that I have lying around are female thread with a female hole and wont work.

1.) Would this work? http://www.banggood.com/Antenna-433MHz-RP-SMA-2dBi-for-3DR-Radios-p-918634.html

2.) Is there something a little more durable than these cheapies?

3.) It doesnt show the pin so to be safe, can I use one of these if need be: http://www.banggood.com/FPV-Aerial-5_8G-Cloverantenna-Mushroom-Antenna-Gain-SMA-Connector-p-907942.html

4.) I'm not sure if the gain and frequency is important to the antenna.  Does the gain and frequency need to match the OPlink?  If so, I know the frequency is 433mhz, but what gain should I use?

Thanks

If you need the SMA from antenna side with the little male center pin you need SMA, not RP-SMA connector like wifi antennas.

You can use the adapter you linked if you don't find the right UHF antenna / SMA connector

The antenna need to be tuned for the frequency use, you cannot use a wifi (2.450Mhz) antenna for Oplink (400-440Mhz).
Same for video antennas running around 5.8GHz.

Antenna gain is mostly around 3dB gain (best case) for omnidirectional radiation.

You should use the larger version like the one linked in first post.
Check the connector you need, SMA or RP-SMA.
