OSD for Revolution?
« on: May 03, 2016, 04:00:23 am »
Im going to upgrade my regular CC3D to a revolution and will want to be able to view flight data, battery level, GPS coords., ettc. in my FPV screen.  What is the preferred device for this?  What's the difference between this and the OPLINK that comes in some revos?
Thanks

You will need a minimosd or micro minimosd.
Follow the wiki

Difference between oplink and OSD is oplink is telemetry data radio on 433MHz and you need a gcs with computer to see the telemetry

Cool.  I think I get it now.  One more questtion; can both of the OSD devices mentioned pull the GPS data from the revo or do they require their own separate GPS module?  I really don't want to have two GPS modules.
Thanks

They get their GPS data from the revo, no additional GPS is required.

I will have my SBUS receiver connected to the main port and the GPS to the flexi port.  The documentation makes it sound like I can connect the OSD to the FlexIO which I see on the full size revolution however, the mini, http://www.banggood.com/CC3D-Revolution-Mini-Combo-OP-Flight-Controller-OPLINK-Radio-Telemetry-GPS-OSD-Power-Distribution-Board-p-1019051.html does not show this port.  Is the flexIO the same as the "RC Input" shown in the link above?  Is there a way to make the above configuration work on the mini?

Yes, it's the same port, different name.  Because of the number of different clones on the market we only post instructions for the original boards.  While the ports are moved around the clones have the same ports.

Revo mini flexiIO port is similar to Revo flexiIO port except they removed the pin3 and pin4.

So two pin less you cannot use for WS28xx leds

Mini Revo I can't use Pin3 & Pin4 for LED control?

On my Mini Revo I have

Main: SBUS to frsky x8r
Flexi: GPS
FlexiIO Pin7/8: miniOPOSD, OSD gets all info from revo
Sonar: RCTimer 90A current/voltage

this works great for me so far ( tested OSD setup on Flexi port to make sure it worked, am wiring up a harness for Pin7/8 tonight )

Oh no!  Hobbies have collided.  I hope it doesnt open a black hole! I'm big into Christmas lights.  Have thousands of WS2801's on my house and even more on the neighbors in the cul-de-sac.  All run off my computer and sync'd to music.  Didnt even know I could run these on my quad.  Good to know...

If you have a revo or clone of it you can put them on.  They're not decorative (they do look nice) but display the revo's status, blinking codes telling armed status, flight modes, and alarms. https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Setup+WS281x+Led#SetupWS281xLed-Ledbehavior
