Hi, welcome.

You need to flash the v4 bootloader first.

Did you try to update manually ?

- Disconnect board
- Hit Upgrade&Erase
- Connect board

Wait flash process, restart and erase

Microcontroller has bootloader and firmware. BU image is bootloader updater, so it's firmware that needs to boot, run and the it updates its own bootloader. After that you need to flash actual firmware. If you interrupted flashing bootloader, board require some soldering and usb UART adapter afaik to be updated manually AFAIK.

Here

LP Wiki says

Unfortunately, the CPU used on the CC3D flight controller does not support the DFU bootloader, see this page instead.
and links this (which is also what I found by googling)

If you use transmitter wizard and it works, and you read and carefully follow all transmitter wizard instructions as they are displayed, then at the end you will/should have an FC that responds to transmitter.

You should not use "always armed".  It's dangerous and can hide problems.  If it won't arm there is a good reason.  Look at System Health on Flight Data page.

If it's not arming then it means there is a critical problem that makes flying dangerous.  This is sanity check and of course it catches only most obvious problems. Setting "always armed" is same as ignoring that error. Sanity checks prevent arming when something very bad can happen.
