FVT LITTLEBEE 20A ESC
« on: January 30, 2016, 03:18:41 am »
Just wanted to get some feed back from anyone that has used these ESC's .
FVT LITTLEBEE 20A ESC

I have a couple of builds going on currently on 250 mm to 350 mm sized quad frames and I want to know if the FVT LITTLEBEE 20A ESC's are worth the purchase . I'm like everyone else....looking for an acceptable , " quality verses price " , mix .

                                                  Thanks ,

There is a non-English thread on the forums about them.  You might use Google translate to read the thread.

A friend developer just bought some from BangGood and 1 out of 4 was bad.  BangGood did the right thing and sent him a new one.

I have two quads with these escs. All
Work great. They have wonderful braking, but are electronically noisy.
5" alien 4s 596grams with battery and GoPro FPV
Lantian LT210 4s 604grams with batt and GoPro FPV
GE X220 4s 6" 513grams with batt and HD cam FPV
Homemade acro X copter. 6" 4s - like a warpquad LOS

I'm running these on my race quad. I was using the ZTW spider's (Atmel chipset) and they would twitch at idle. These have been great. I run 3S and don't really go hog wild with my flying and I've yet to feel a warm ESC.

I second that about electrical noise.

Another thing to watch out, they come each with different BLHeli version even in the same batch from the same seller. Take your time to flash newest firmware and verify configuration.

Haven't had bad one yet out of 15 of them currently in use (by my fellow pilots, not all by myself ;))

Be aware that there is new version out FVT LITTEBEE 20A Pro. The Pro version has faster micro-controller, because from what I've been reading non-pro version couldn't handle well very-high kv motors. Those I suspect were 3000-4000 kv range in a very small aircafts. Correct me if I am wrong, but I use non-pro with 2350kv and 2000kv without issues.

I use them (old, non pro, version)already on two copters (one with rcx2205/1850kV and Multistar Elite 2204/2300kV) without any issue. Probably it is better to go with the pro version for a new build, expecially with high kv motors.

as an additional note I strongly recommend a filter for your camera/vtx to limit the high voltage spikes that those guys produces over the battery leads.
And please, be VERY CAREFULL when testing using a power supply: it will not be  able to sink the spikes generated when the esc brakes the motors, thus the power supply can rise to a very unsafe voltage for everything that's powered directly from that (vtx, camera etc.).

I burnt already some camera and vtx for this reason :(

I'll be using them along with the Multistar Elite 2204 2300 kv motors . LOS for now . But, I do want to use the same quad for FPV in the future . I used Simonk 20 amp on my winter builds , and they , ( 4 ), are all flying great . The Little Bees are for my next project . I want something a little bit bigger than a 250 frame . And, I still need to figure out which transmitter I'll need .

Hi all , problems updating BlHeli to 14.6 with these esc's.
Just updated plugged in flight battery and one motor spins with no input, all other motors unresponsive.
Went into Librepilot cannot test motors, same motor continues to spin.
Have now gone back to 14.4 all good.
Seems like some LittleBees don't like 14.6 or could it be something else?
FC Revo
Motors Emax 2205 2300kv
Also as mentioned earlier not all of these esc's have the same settings installed, so please check through BlHeli suite. Mine had different settings which caused some strange behavior.
