Connection Problem with Revolution, NO Rx-Signal !!!
« on: April 01, 2018, 01:38:32 pm »
Hello !
In actual fact I wanted to report a bug.  Unfortunately this seems not to be possible for normal humans, I didn't find a way to do that.
The bug:

When I try to connect my new Revolution FC, the Rx-Connection doesn't work !
It only works if I connect the FC on the Firmware-TAB and make a firmware-update. After this the connection
is working fine an I can setup the FC.
Bootloader-Version is  V. 6, Firmware-Version is  16.09 from 12.12.2016  23:37, FC is detected as a Revolution
(ID: 903 )  everything seems to work as it should.
BUT !: If I disconnect the FC from power and try to connect again the

connection   of    Rx  doesn't  work   !

I am sure many of you know this bug ! ( see attachment )

What I've already tryed out:
I work with LibrePilot for Ubuntu 14.04 on a Linux-Mint System 32 Bit.
I also tryed on a Linux-Mint System 64 Bit. The same problem.
I also tryed on a Windows XP 32-Bit System. Same problem.

On all this Systems the older CC3D (not the Revolution) works perfectly !

So I guess it must be a problem with the Revolution - Firmware.

What do the experts say to that problem ?

Regards

I have not heard of such an issue before, but it is fairly common to get a bad USB cable.

One other thing is that some laptops don't make enough power on the USB to run the board reliably.

So things to test (just for a test if nothing else) are:
- wiggle cable both ends (and there may even be a bad wire in the middle)
- try a different USB cable
- try a different computer

When it doesn't work, what do the LEDs look like?  If they flash like it is working, then it has USB power, but not USB data.

Hi TheOtherCliff,

yes, as you've read, I've already tryed out your advices.

I've tryed out on Linux 32Bit, 64Bit and also WinXP.

It works nowhere !  The FC I used at first, the old CC3D works everywhere.

So I really guess, that the controller has a hardware problem.

On the other side, when I make the firmware update ( with the same firmware already running on the FC )

the communication works how it should.  Only when I disconnect the system from the power supply, it won't

connect afterwards.

So I think it is not a problem of the LibrePilot GCS but a problem from the controller-board.

I am very well used to microcontroller-boards.  I also been wondering as I found this problem nowhere in the

internet.  But there is a trouble-shouting from LibrePilot. This trouble-shouting says that it is a problem with the

driver of the hardware and recommends to install the driver again.  But it is  a Windows-Problem an a Windows Driver.

I can come along with the problem when I allway make a new firmwareupdate and then program the setup-log-file

But it's still really annoying.  This controller was not a controller for small money but for  EUR > 40,- .

Thanks for your answer !

Kind regards
