Magnetometer calibration
« on: October 22, 2017, 07:01:04 pm »
Hello.
I fly with S500 quad revo board. Gps outdoor.
Before flight i always need to recalibrate my mag.
I follow exactly instructions but 24 hours later will be rerecalibrate.
I have test to calibre with and without battery connected, with and without my video emiter...
What's rong?
Tks

You need to calibrate it exactly with items you are going to fly. Including all components. You should not modify copter after mag calibraiton.

You should check Mag on scopes if it's gives readout on all axis, more or less symetric and you dont have any strong magnet on your copter.

Also, after mag calibration, you must press the Save button in the lower right corner to make it permanent.  :)

Also, moving a long way away or to an area that has much different mag field (mountain, ocean, automobile junk yard, iron mine, etc.) sometimes needs a new mag calibration.

Thanjs for all guy.
What the best conditions for a mag calibration?
All components tuned on ok but.. i need a 3d fix? Better inside, in a garden or middle a field?
Yes i know i need to save ;)

Mag cal does not need any GPS reception at all.

Best is in the middle of the field where you fly, but you can do it anywhere there is not large metal objects.

Be aware that once you start it, it is always recording, so that you cannot set it on your metal automobile between the 6 button presses.

Also, do not set it on the ground while calibrating.

A little non-metal table... or have someone help press buttons while you hold it up the whole time.

One other thing is that it's believed that it works better if it is done via RF telemetry, not a USB cable.
