No USB Device Detection on Windows 10
« on: August 02, 2016, 04:43:49 am »
I'm using a Revolution board purchased through my local hobby dealer.

When I connect it via USB, Windows 10 is not detecting it, at all.

I have followed the instructions on this page with no effect, on two separate Win10 systems (Desktop and Laptop): https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Troubleshooting

I mention that above because every time result on google for troubleshooting has someone bring that up.

This is repeatable on both of my systems. I plug in the USB, the board's green (power) led comes on and the blue led flashes quickly, and then settles into a slower blink. It's my understanding that it is supposed to turn solid blue when it has a full connection. It doesn't matter what USB port I use, neither computer ever detects it, and a scan for hardware changes doesn't see it either.

The USB Connection option never shows up in LibrePilot.

I've given up my troubleshooting here and need some help from the community.

I'll be xposting this on Reddit for some visibility.

If you've tried the steps in https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Troubleshooting and tried another usb cable that would point to the board being bad.

Does it not show up in the Windows device manager at all?  If it shows up there but not in the LP GCS have you tried hitting upgrade and erase on the firmware tab and then connecting the board?   Or rescue before connecting the board?  https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Firmware+Tab covers that type of thing.

If all of the above don't work it's probably just a bad board and you should contact the seller.

There's no problem with running under Windows 10 itself, lots of people do it.  I even use Windows 10 on one of my laptops.

I had similar problem in the past. I appears to be conflicting residual drivers (hidden) from other devices (not in use). Try to follow instructions from http://www.thewindowsclub.com/show-non-present-devices-windows
Delete all unnecessary drivers.
It may be good idea to reinstall LP software. There is driver installation section, make sure it went through OK.
If it shows error in driver installation, this may cause your problem.
