Need help on installing GCS with Fedora24
« on: July 10, 2016, 06:01:16 pm »
Hello!

I try to install Librepilot 15.0.9 GCS on a fresh Fedora 24 via copr for parched/LibrePilot. Added Repository copr for parched/LibrePilot and try to do a "dnf install parched/LibrePilot", but all i get is "not found". I'm working with root-rights, but I'm new to Fedora. It seems the Repository is empty?

Update: I'm on i386, I'm installing on my trusty Acer Aspire One 110 wich is 32bit.

Greetings from DE

Fedora 24 was released last month, the build for that repo was back in September of last year.   There is no build for 24, Fedora 23 is the last one. https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/parched/LibrePilot/build/131625/

I'll leave a note for @parched and see if he intends to update it for 24.

Hi altermac,

The upcoming release will definitely support fedora 24. I will have a look to see how easy it is to get a build of 15.09 for fedora 24, but I suspect it will involve backporting a few changes. Will let you know.

@parched: Thanks for your work.

btw: Is there a roadmap for "LibrePilot Next", maybe a release-date? I see lots of commits in GCS but nothing in the news...

@altermac: Fedora 24 uses Qt 5.6 which would require backporting a bit of work to get a 15.09 build. However, the fedora 23 build of 15.09 should work fine on fedora fedora 24 I believe. You can download the rpm for here https://copr-be.cloud.fedoraproject.org/results/parched/LibrePilot/fedora-23-i386/00131625-LibrePilot/LibrePilot-15.09-1.fc23.i686.rpm and then install it with dnf. Let me know if that doesn't work, and I will try and find the time to get a fedora 24 build going.

Regarding the next release, I can't predict when for sure but it shouldn't be too far away. If you are interested in testing the fedora release candidate packages when they happen, let me know.

Have Fedora 23-package installed with dnf install. It adds only qt5 to the system, cc3d to usb works on first try. I like the "Full screen"-feature with my 1024x600 netbook-screen. It runs a bit slow because of my old hardware, the Acer Aspire One 110 with 8GB SSD seems to be the grandma of netbooks. Trying xfce-Spins of fedora 23 and 24 to gain a bit more power.

Now it's time for summer holidays, want to come back later for release testing with some "not so old"-hardware.
