Eachine Racer 250 very dark video
« on: March 22, 2016, 06:26:04 pm »
Hi!

I know it's not librepilot related, but I'd like to know if my problem is valid:
So If I fly my quad and there's a big part of the sky suddenly I can't see anything but the sky (everything is black on the ground), is it something that I could adjust, or that's the camera on the quad and it should work this way?
Thanks in advance!

Some Fpv cameras come with an osd ( on screen display)- whereby you can change settings such as wdr ( wide dynamic range ).
Your 250 could be retro-fitted with such , if need be.
Your picture may well be improved with such , even without changing settings as the cameras with osds tend to be better quality.

Can you adjust contrast and brightness on your groundstation/ goggles - might help.
Ps - yes your q is valid !
Some info on yr vtx and vrx systems be handy.
Cheers

Hi! http://wikirotors.com/index.php?title=Eachine_Racer_250#Video_Transmitter Here is a little detail about the vtx in the quad, it has a 1000tvl camera with built in osd, but I don't know how to edit the wdr.

The goggle is the vr-007 from eachine, I can adjust broghtness/contrast but it doesn't help :/

So , slight cross -over in terminology.
The osd in the VTX you have displays volts and that  on your video feed.
Very handy as you don't want to run your batteries too low.
When I referred to a camera with osd , I should really have said " camera with adjustable parameters "
Such a camera will have a small "select -up-down - left -right " widget that plugs into camera for making adjustments .
The parameters being adjusted will be displayed on your goggles / groundstation   - hence , whilst widget is connected , they are displayed-on-screen.
Widget usually removed after adjustments.
Usually flyers like wdr on for to overcome the problem you first
highlighted.
I think some cameras it is set to off as standard .
There is a chance you get used to the issue .
Or try to find a better camera (with user interface / osd ) , some soldering and care over voltage needed.
Hope that helps.
Please note I am no expert !
Edit - or is the vtx and camera all one unit ??

The camera and the vtx are separate modules. The vtx puts on the osd, the camera does nothing, but has two unused connectors.(CDS, IR-CUT)

Hmm , still think a camera upgrade is the way to go.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a really cheap cmos camera, I'll invest in a wdr capable camera module :D
