FC for 250?
« on: October 28, 2016, 04:15:25 pm »
Hey guys so I am needing some advice I am building a 250 size quad and wondering what the appropriate FC would be. I was originally just going to go with a REVO, but am not sure now. Its going to have FPV I wouldnt mind it having GPS strictly for Speed and home arrow. So, should I just stick with the revo? or is there something better suited for smaller quads and acting crazy in the air?

Hi
I have always used plain cc3d board for " acting crazy in the air "
In a thread titled
"Using a revo board in small acro/ racing quads"
I enquired if I was missing out by not using a revo.
Advice then was no.
Yeah , gps/ speed readout would be nice but really , I think Fpv (acro/racing) is so much fun , knowing 'how fast' doesn't seem to matter.
( have paced out a 100m run just to find a speed by timing the dvr vid. )
As for 'home arrow' , cute , but really , you're tooling about , crashing lots , so never really going far ( unless you enjoy a long walk ) - and most importantly , you've got a camera on the front and a screen / goggles - how can you not know the way back ?

Hope your 250 Fpv goes well.

Looking around the threads, i see a lot of pain around gps in home built quads.  If you dont get the right gps, it wont work. Sometimes they refuse to arm without a gps lock....etc

So I'd echo "if you don't have a specific reason fur GPS, you may be happier without.

I've only ever used a cc3d and a hobby king kk board. Kk board isnt programmable, so we Can skip that.

To me, the cc3d is a solid board for cheap. Using different settings on the same hardware I've been able to change from a slow and steady hoverer, to a snappy quad that can flip 4 times in a second and still (usually) recover. Its also taken one heck of a beating....

I've not used a revo, but i see a lot of posts about them and they sound like a great choice too...not sure about their price though.

Thanks guys for the responses. I know the revo is an amazong little fc that being said its the only fc ive ever used. I couldnt find a regular cc3d on hobbyking. I could of order from somewhere different but didnt want to pay extra shipping so i ended up buying another revo. The built in oplink in the revo was attractive to me as well. Its almost 50 bucks for the revo. I was trying to go a little cheaper to please the wifey but its my birthday so i said screw it. For anyone thats wanting to know im building on the tarot tl250c frame kit. Its a really neat looking quad.
