guys is there a way to autotune as this article lead me to believe there is

Right, CC3D do not support Autotune for now.

So it seems you didn't setup the TxPid/EasyTune correctly.
Moving one knob allow PID changes on one axis.

You simply need to find the point where oscillations or rebound after flips appears and lower a bit.
