CC3D mini atom aux channels & min throttle [Help please]
« on: September 04, 2016, 02:48:51 am »
HI everyone,
I have CC3d mini atom, my transmitter is turnigy 9x (with default firmware) and my receiver is frsky d8r-II plus.
My 3 flight mode switch is working ok, it’s a bit weird because I don’t have nothing connected to channel 5 wich is the one cc3d are using for flight modes but librepilot automatic detect and its working. Everything is working perfectly except 2 things that I would like to set, and im pulling my hair out, because I cant find anywhere how to do it.  :o :o

The first thing I would like to do is set a min throttle, I want motors still spin slowly when my throttle is at 0 so I can still use roll, pitch and yaw. I’ve tried every tab on librepilot but nothing worked, the only thing is close to what I want is set throttle curve on my transmitter, with throttle curve on my transmitter motors still spin slowly when throttle is at 0 and im able to yaw/roll/pitch but slowly motors getting fast and fast (im testing this in acro+ mode), I don’t know if this is a normal behavior, but I would like to set min throttle in flight controller instead transmitter.
The second problem is my cc3d/librepilot don’t detect any aux channel. Only detect my 3 flight modes switch. I would like to set up a switch to arm my motors and a buzzer, but I cant do anything because nothing is detected. I alreadly assigned channels on my radio but had no luck, I don’t know if it’s a bad radio configuration, bad wired cc3d/receiver or a defective board. I really appreciated if someone could help me with this.

I can provide screenshots or more information if necessary.

Regards

First, lets get this out of the way: having the motors always spin when armed is a bit dangerous so certainly be careful.  If your quad is ever flying toward someone or something and you panic and forget how to quickly disarm it, you could end up causing some serious injury or damage.  Getting hit with a falling 2 pound brick is bad enough, but those spinning props can be razor sharp.

There is an option in LibrePilot in configuration > Output that is "Motors spin at neutral output when armed and throttle below zero (be careful)".  I think that's the option you want.  Setting your arm to a switch is the best option with this so you can quickly arm/disarm, as opposed to something like the throttle off + yaw right option.

...im able to yaw/roll/pitch but slowly motors getting fast and fast (im testing this in acro+ mode), I don’t know if this is a normal behavior, but I would like to set min throttle in flight controller instead transmitter.

I've read from other people that the slowly increasing of motor speed at very low throttle is expected.  I believe its due to the quad trying to keep itself level.

Usually I think the transmitter setup wizard sets this up for you when its going through the different switches/knobs, but if I remember correctly, I had to do some fidgeting with my aux/accessory channels in the Configuration > Input tab even after the wizard.  For example, I wanted my Accessory2 to be my receiver's channel 3, so I had to change the type from "None" to "PWM" and then the "Number" to "Chan 3".  So long as there are no wiring issues, that's the 'manual' way to setup a accessory channel in your flight controller.

If the transmitter wizard isn't reacting when you adjust a knob or switch and it also doesn't seem to react after manually setting it up manually, you'll want to check the transmitter/receiver and the wiring from the receiver to the flight controller.

Thanks for your reply @crof2003 i already tried that option in output tab, yes the motors spin at neutral position but pitch/roll/yaw dont work. I have a switch to cut throttle, in emergency situations, but thanks for your advise, really appreciated.
About the aux channels, i already tried to setup them manualy but didnt work  :-\ and transmitter wizard dont detect any aux channel, only detect 3 flight mode switch as i said in the first post.
I dont undrstand why the quad is trying to self leveling, is in acro+ there i no auto leveling i think.

Thank you

Well, I believe I'm of no use. The only other suggetion i have is the setting talked about on the sticky thread  https://forum.librepilot.org/index.php?topic=506.0 but i dont think that will allow for roll/pitch/yaw either.

Hopefully the more experienced guys will have better advice for you!

This is how i got my channels setup. Everything working, but i want to add a aux channel and transmitter wizard dont detect any aux channel excpt 3 flight mode switch. I also tryed the assign a aux channel manual but didnt work. If someone read this please dont forget the other question about min throttle setup. I really need both things working.

Thank you

Making the rounds, I found this old thread.

If you don't have a receiver cable connected for your flight mode switch channel, then it sounds like you may be using PPM which sends all signals through a single cable.

You use the transmitter wizard to detect and enable all your transmitter aux switches, sliders, etc.  If transmitter wizard does not see these aux channels when you move the control, then the transmitter probably needs to be configured to send these channels.  Modern transmitters to not send them in the default configuration.  I suggest you search Google or Youtube for instructions on how to do this with your brand and model of transmitter.
