Can't connect CC3D to computer

When I plug in my CC3D to the computer, my computer doesn't detect it at all, and neither does LibrePilot. I tried with a couple of standard USB phone chargers. What kind of USB do I need to use?

Hi,

You need a cable that also handle the data, some of them do only charging.

How about led activity after you power the board ?

What OS are you using Windows, Linux or Mac?
Can you transfer data from your phone with the cables you are using?

I'm using Windows 7, and the cables can transfer data as well as charge a phone. The CC3D does not light up at all when I plug it in with USB, and I tried it with the battery plugged in and without out it plugged in.

Looks like a hardware issue.
In normal way USB port should at least power the board.

What happens about leds while powered with battery ?

It should always be powered with 5V and with correct polarity.  Generally don't connect a normal flight battery directly to the CC3D.  Instead you should connect the flight battery to the ESC's heavy red and black wire pair and connect the ESC to the CC3D with the 3 (small) wire "servo connector".  Most ESCs have a BEC circuit built in that reduces the battery voltage to about 5V.

The battery isn't connected directly to the CC3D; it's connected through a "multirotor esc control board.The CC3D is connected to a receiver, and the receiver turns on, which means the CC3D is somewhat working, but no lights turn on when it is connected to power.

You should see two leds in CC3D:
- Power: tell you the board is powered (led is powered just after a regulator)
- Status: blinking, show status. Bootloader, gyro init, flightmodes...

Without some led activity onboard, no way for connecting successfully to the computer.

The only led that matters is the power led on CC3D. If no single led lights up on CC3D, then your CC3D is not working.

+5V you provide in output port (servo connectors) is directly routed to the +5V pin in all ports (receiver, Main, flexi)
If the board do not appears powered using external 5V / battery or USB you can expect a dead board.
Can be simply the main regulator or more.
