Setup help with F450 wobbles and unstable
« on: August 21, 2016, 02:23:18 am »
Got a new F450 build I am using the CC3D Atom and in Flight mode 1 which is set to Attitude it wobbles badly impossible to control. On Flight mode 2 which is set to weak leveling it is much more stable and controllable, Still small wobbles. On Flight mode 3 which I had on rate trainer it was wobbling just as bad as FM1! I changed FM3 to Rattitude.
I have been reading and still don't really understand how PID relates, Is there a guide I am missing that explains it? I am just using basic and haven't messed with them at all nor the sliders on basic, I was trying to start from that but something isn't right!
Does anyone have a similar set up that can share file for it or some starting points?

F450 Quad, 10x4.5 props, PWM 50Hz 30 Amp ESC, CC3D Atom FC, 2212/13t 1000KV motors, 3S 2200 Mah LiPo

Hi, welcome.

Try setting PWM-490Hz instead of PWM-50Hz, this should resolve stabilization issues.

Not sure they are capable can't find any info on what speed they are, Just have HW 30A on small silver sticker on one side.  They came packaged with motors, esc and CW/CCW props for quad.
(edit)
Can I change the HZ in the output section of GCS or do I have to redo the wizard?
Figure I could try 60hz and see if esc gets hot, Then try next one up and test temp. and then go up to next HZ and check temp again so on up to 490HZ, If I could just change that in the GCS output tab without redoing wizard every time it would be easier and less time consuming.
Please let me know. What about the guide for PIDs does anyone have a good link for explanation of what they relate to?  I am waiting on new props since I killed all the ones I got, So got time to read.
(edit again)
I just noticed on the sheet that came with the ESC they show the specs and it has all their models and they are Multi axis esc's, So that should mean they can handle the higher refresh rates? of course on the specs the input HZ isn't listed anywhere.
Should and can I still do the upping the refresh rate a step at a time through GCS output page?

Just update the refresh rate to 490Hz in output page, only for the banks that need. Looks at bank colors / color in outputs you use.
50Hz is simply not reliable for a Multirotor and almost all recent Esc support 490Hz or more without issues.

Ok Thanks I will try it. What should I look out for if it is too high? Would they get hot or just smoke?
The specs do say Multi axis ESC so that should mean they would be able to accept that input HZ right?

With cheap Esc, the smoke is more blue. Nothing bad. :)
