Title: Using Chrome autotranslate to read the international forums
Post by: hwh on December 14, 2015, 02:14:54 am
I've always, or at least the two weeks I've been on here  :), wondered what information I was missing in the three international forums. Today it occurred to me that if I installed Google Chrome as an alternate browser and used it for the forums it's automatic translation might help.  It turns out it actually works very well.  The first time you go to a page in a language it offers to translate it.  You can tell it yes and it'll ask again the next time you come to a page in that language.  If you click options instead and tell it to always translate the language then it will always translate that language automatically.  It's translations aren't perfect, and occasionally they read strange, but they're understandable.

I think that it would work in the opposite direction as well, someone who only spoke French for example could read the English or other international forums.

Sounds like a good idea, especially for non-English speakers wanting to access the larger set of English posts.
