hi, i've got my magnetometer today and it was labeled as a HMC5883L. but i found the same one on other sites where other people say its actually a QMC5883L, so it seems like i have a QMC5883L. Other sites say its the same magnetometer just made by a chinese factory and that the adress is different.
Is it possible to get a QMC5883L working? the one i got didn't work. I have lent the one from my friend, it has a label with HMC5883L on it and it worked pretty good.

Cloned QMC5883 version is not compatible with HMC5883, need codes changes, not only the I2C address.

Hi アイラ,
I have just ordered one of those new GPS/MAG units with QMC5883L from banggood. I can add support for it as soon as I get it.
-
Do you think it can be automatically detected?
-
Well mine did not work, so i think i will order a new one, propably from china, because now its too cold to fly anyways, so i could wait.

Most definitely. Pity though that they choose the chip-id register to have value 0xff :o

I used GY-511 from Banggood, there works fine.

How did you know that this module is supported? Is there some documentation about supported modules or chips?
