Title: Eachine 250 setup help (open to paying someone to set up LibrePilot settings)
Post by: silverstretch_2000 on February 25, 2017, 09:26:16 pm
Hello everyone.  I an the proud owner of a new eachine 250 quad and I an having some challenges just really figuring this thing out.  I would say that I am technically pretty good with things like this as I am decent on a computer, and I am also a longtime RC user and fan.  I have my quad fully assembled however I just cant get through all of the LibrePilot settings.  When I try to run the firmware updates I keep getting this error :Timed out while waiting for a board to be connected!  You will have to manually upgrade the board using the uploader plugin."  The when I go to the "board identification" it doesnt seem to recognize it although it does read "disconnect" as one of the options.  However, I am not able to click "next" to move forward in the process.  Is there an up to date video link I can follow to set this up properly?  I have watched several videos on youtube and they dont seem to help.  I would even be willing to pay someone to set this up for me if it came down to it.  This quad is brand new, right of out the box and I thought it would be way easier to set up.  Any help or suggestions would be tremendously appreciated!  Have a wonderful weekend!
Libre version I have now is 16.09

Hi, welcome.

No need to pay someone here :)

Assuming your board is in good condition and to be used with LibrePilot...
You may need to update first the bootloader to the v4 version.

Download this file https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/download/attachments/4128780/bu_cc3d.opfw
And flash the bootloader like explained here:
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Firmware+Rescue

Last step, do a manual update using the "Upgrade&Erase" button:
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Firmware+Tab#FirmwareTab-Manualmethod

It sounds like the bootloader is an old version.

You can either use the version of OpenPilot that it had on it (I would guess 15.05 f5soh reminds me that 15.02 is the last OP version that supports CC3D) or you can update the bootloader and use LibrePilot.
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Firmware+Tab#FirmwareTab-Rescuemethod

After flashing the bootloader and before flashing the regular firmware, make sure you boot the board (or power off/on) with just the bu_coptercontrol.opfw on it.  That is an important step that is sometimes skipped.

I think I am dumber than I even look.  I am still having issues with this recognizing the board.  It keeps timing out.  I dont think the board is bad, I just think I am missing a step here.  What I have done is
*Dowloaded the most current version of Librepilot   GCS version 16.09
*Connected my quad to a usb port on my actual laptop (it says not to use hubs)
*HAVE NOT connected the battery for any parts of this process so far (is that correct?)
*Have tried to do the "vehicle setup wizard" on the Libre homepage chose "upgrade/erase all settings" and it times out and says "you will have to manually upgrade the board using the uploader plugin".  When I choose "next" it gives me the option to "disconnect" but it doesnt seem like it is recognizing anything.  I am not able to choose "next" from here.  It doesnt allow me.  It automatically chooses "connection device" as "Serial: COM3" and for "detected board type" it only allows "unknown" to be selected from the drop down.

Is there any kind of up to date video out there that I can follow so I don't continue to make a fool out of myself?  :)   I sincerely thank you for your help!

Can you explain what "start flashing" means?  Sorry, this is all new to me in many regards.  Thank you

*Also, when I try to "upgrade and erase" I am not able to select "rescue" at all.

From here :
https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Firmware+Rescue

- Disconnect board from USB and remove all power (battery...)
- Rescue (or upgrade&Erase)
- Connect board

What happens ?

I get stuck here and can't choose any of the needed options.  Please see attached image

And when it says "disconnect all power to the board" I have been assuming that also means having it connected via USB?  Sounds like a dumb question, but nothing is dumb at this point.  So the board is not supposed to have any power going to it at all correct?

Why you have the Serial com3 connected ?

Restart the GCS and try again the above

Disconnect the board, hit the button (rescue / upgrade&Erase) and connect board

Anytime I try to "upgrade and erase" from the firmware section it doesnt recognize the board and times out.  I have tried this step with the board being plugged in via USB, and without.  I feel like I missed an obvious step somewhere.

Serial COM 3 was selected by default.

I can chose to connect via "Logfile: Logfile replay" "serial: COM3" or "UDP unconfigured".  Which one should I select?

No one tell you to select one option and/or connect.

Restart GCS
Disconnect the board,
Hit the button (rescue or upgrade&Erase)
Connect board

What happens ?

The part you dont understand is , that you doing things we didnt even say tot do ! Start flashing (update reset rescu ) BEFORE YOU CONNECT YOUR BOARD !!!!   if that doesn't work, you have a driver/cable problem or empty/bad SOC DFU modes needed (read wiki) or bad mainboard ( good for parts)

It "times out for board waiting to be connected"     I restarted GCS, chose rescue, then when the timer started I plugged the board in and it doesnt recognize it.  Same thing if I choose "upgrade & erase".  Is it possible that I dont have the right cable?  I just used a basic cell phone cable that fit.  Is that a possibility?  It tells me I will "have to manually upgrade the board"     I attached another image that I get when I choose "upgrade and erase"   the second error message image is when I choose "rescue:

First try another cable.
When you connect the board to the computer and/or using battery do you see some activity like led blinking ?

Driver is unrelated to the rescue / Manual update issue

When I connect the cable, yes the lights go on (blue blinking & green solid).  So does that mean it is not a cable issue?

It only means its getting power and its booting . ( as in red and black are oke) what about rx tx cable?

It actually was the cable, I am so dumb!  I went through all the settings but I get stuck at the "gimbal" section.  I am not able to choose "save" based on the default settings on that page.  This is where I got stuck before.  Are there any settings changes I need to make on this page so I can move on to the next?  Thanks again!

Moved the other post here

About Gimbal : you need to enable the module first - Save and reboot

https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Camera+Stabilisation+Configuration

In most GCS config parts in you click the (https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/download/attachments/2490383/gcs_help.png?api=v2) icon you will get the wiki page according to the place you are in GCS.

Are there any standard config recommendations for the "Gimbal" page.  This is the image and the settings that are there now.  It looks like I need to make some choices before I can move ahead.  Sorry for being a dum dum...:)

*At the bottom it is set to "Gimbal type: generic" and "FF Max acceleration: 500"

You should also look at the tooltips when you mouseover the areas.
Parameter you quote are found in "expert settings", if you're not a expert you should keep as default ?

I was able to sent the "Gimbal" settings correctly I believe.  I was able to save them and go on to the next page. On the TxPID page I was able to enable TxIP module so that seems good to go.  When I get to the last page titled "OPLINK" I only get this message "This panel will be updated to provide the relevant controls to let you configure your device once it is connected and running." and I am not able to click "save" on the page.  Are there any other settings that I need to adjust before I am able to give this thing a test run?  Also, I noticed that at the bottom right of the config pages it has Connections set at "Serial:COM3" and I think someone said earlier that this was the wrong setting to have.  The other options are "Logfile: logfile replay" OR "UDP: Unconfigured".  It seems like my controller isnt integrated with the quad yet.  My thanks in advance!

I don't understand what you are trying exactly.

For a first test run you do not need Gimbal or TxPID. What gimbal hardware do you use ?
Seems you try to setup a OPLink not available with a CC3D hardware.

The serial COM3 is not needed for normal setup.

The Setup wizard will help you to configure the board according to your hardware (Rc receiver, Esc...), you should start here, followed by the Transmitter wizard.

I think I may have added some extra steps for myself perhaps.  I can't seem to connect the controller to the quad.  I have gone through all the transmitter settings, adjusted any inverted controls, set the motors stable speed, extend to the maximum on the controller sticks...etc    But for some reason I am not able to connect my controller to the quad.  Would it be better if I just started over?  It still says "Serial: COM3 as the connection on the configuration menu.  Is there a video or something I can follow from the very beginning to make sure I don't keep making the same mistake?  Thank you again everyone!

If you briqued the board for some reason, you can try a manual Upgrade&Erase.

Hello group, happy Friday!  I am posting this message today out of frustration in getting my Eachine250 in proper working order.  I am experience in RC model racing however this is my first racing quality quad that I have owned and I am having trouble going through all the settings on Libre Pilot.  I seem to be able to go through all of the calibrations and things without incident, however I just can't seem to get the controller to connect to the quad to control it.  I have gone through all of the controller settings, confirmed that none of the controls are inverted....etc.  But I am not able to "save" and finalize that section.  The controller I have is the "Eachine i6".  Is there some kind of instructional video I can follow from start to finish with this controller so I can properly set this up?  I'm surprised I am having this many challenges but this is somewhat new to me.  I consider myself to be handy and know my way around a PC, however I must be missing something in the process.  I would even be fully willing to pay someone to do a virtual desktop session with me to help me set this up if it comes down to it.  I sincerely thank the group for any help that can be extended.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Does anyone have a video tutorial that I can follow from start to finish that works with the Eachine i6 controller?  I'm so lost at this point and I feel like an idiot.  All I want to do is fly this thing and show it off to my neighbors and my little ones. :)  My sincere thanks in advance!

Well I don't know if I can be of much help but don't like the thought of someone not being able to fly. ( although do take care of flying near other people ).
I wonder if your eachine i6 is basically the same as a flsky i6 . ?
Does the transmitter wizard run ok ?
Does the flight mode switch show ?
Can you save after setting arming method ?

Settings cannot be saved when it is armed.  You must disarm first.  Also, this makes it difficult to use "always armed" (which is considered dangerous anyway).

Have you tried pluging your battery into your quad while in the tx wizard?
