Title: Use pololu step-down to power FC ok?
Post by: ggrif on November 03, 2015, 04:44:52 pm
Is it ok to use this https://www.pololu.com/product/2107 instead of a UBEC to power a CC3D/Revo? CC3D only pulls 70 milliamps.
I ask because I didn't have a UBEC handy for my current build with OPTO ESC's so I am using this for setup, seems to work fine on the ground. Plus it's much smaller/lighter then any UBEC I've seen.

Pololu recommend newer step down instead of the one you linked, as the 5V-500mAh (https://www.pololu.com/product/2843) or the 5V-1A (https://www.pololu.com/product/2831).
If you go for the item #2107 (600 mA) pay attention to connect the SHDN to Vin.
I use only pololu regulators for all my multirotors without any issue.
