Title: Development of the Defiance PRO airframe - Now OpenSource!
Post by: Daxo on August 21, 2016, 05:26:43 pm
Thought to kick it off with a photo of what I've been working on lately and as it gets closer to release I'll be sharing more details.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on the design  :D

Special Thanks to the AP guyz, this design would not be what it is without you guyz, no bs pure facts.

Your superior material quality, diamond cut precision and 3d cutting capabilities made this design possible within a budget and possible at all!

Was asked about the FC placement in another thread so I guess I can share a bit about it in here as well.

The FC is placed in the undercarriage for ease of build and maintenance with full build access without actually disassembling the entire build/frame.

Ofc, it goes without saying that it's possible to place your FC anywhere you want on the frame in any rotation as long as you fly acro/rate.

A photo to showcase the FC thing, mind you, this was a very quick build as I wanted to get the thing in the air for testing ASAP. :D

Thought it might be interesting to some to show more in depth about it, design goals that helped forming the shape of the frame..

I've increased the front cover/mount fitting capacity by curving it, the one found above the camera.

It turned out really sweet, it looks like a fully shaped canopy now.  :D

I really like the new design.
I had already taken steps to install most of the components in the Defiance 265 undercarriage.
The Defiance PRO seems reduced to the right point to not have wasted space, and much more solid as well.

@ RedSun,

I fly with Graphene 1.3Ah 65C(a bit heavier battery @139grams) for about 4.5minutes of acrobatic(thro punches all the way).

@ Liftbag,

Cheers buddy, I really love how it turned out.

Funny enough, the key part of a solution for this design came from time when we were doing that PDB thing together! How about that! ;)

Best,
D.

I really hope not to see a new robofeline  and consequent crowd of imitators.

I think that's very probable, however, I care more about bringing something new and interesting, perhaps something better.

If it happens folks choose original I'll be able to give more, if that's the case great if not, that's ok too.

I guess you can't stop trying just because there's a great chance of rip off. haha

Do you have the weight of the frame?
