Title: Wind on propeller sideways
Post by: darkdave on April 08, 2016, 08:42:19 am
I have an aerodynamic/physics question about what happens when gust hits a VTOL drone sideways.

Does wind relative to a propeller horizontally cause a drop in lift produced? Is there a drop in air pressure?

My drone with full throttle dropped during a sideways gust. It was like the throttle had no effect on the drone as it fell.

I would hazard a guess ( in the hope that it prompts a better answer ) that the air being thrown downwards that keeps vehicle in place gets blown away.
But then I start thinking about planes and lift and turbulence .
Then I remember how little I know.
