Im still trying to understand how to use the GCS but need a little help.
My quad is a s500 with 1000kv motors. 11" props using 30a ESC's. Ran by a CC3D.
My controller is a Frsky Taranis -plus.
I have everything setup, quad flys and what not. Im just trying to do some more tuning and what not.
I want to setup the flight mode and the accessories up on my remote.
Problem is I don't know how too.
Do I set all the channels to S-bus and just use a channel that isn't being used yet under the configuration/input?
The CC3D is setup with the Futuba S-bus. 3 wires from the CC3D to the receiver.
Any help would be great.
Even some tips on how to setup the PID setting too =D
Thanks.

Hi Irishluck,
The easiest way to setup flight modes is to assign the flight mode switch to one of the three mode switchis in the taranis (SB or SC) during the transmitter setup wizzard. Then you have three flight modes available after finishing the wizzard. To configure the flight modes, you can either use the defaults, or go to Input -> Flight Mode Settings in the GCS and setup whatever you like (https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Input+Configuration).
To setup all six modes you need to find a combination on your Taranis that provides you with the 6 modes in a combination you like (for example combining one 2 mode switch and one three mode switch) to one output channel and assign this combination to your flight mode switch.
You don't need S-Bus for setting up this, but if you do, with a 16 channel receiver you can chose any of the channels 5-16 for the flight mode switch. I like to put it to channel 5, then 6-9 for the 4 accessory channels.
For the pids, I would try the QAV 500 settings from the GCS defaults list. If that works reasonably well, I would suggest, first get comfortable with the quad and the GCS, before starting to get into tuning the PIDs.

Thanks for that reply. Just for a little more info ive been flying my quads for a little now. I just want to start fine tuning them now.
Ive just had issues with trying to set up the flight mode switch. Id go through the wizard and none of my switches would work with the wizard.
So i guess what ive been missing is how to exactly assign the switces to the flight mode or to the accessories.
Also when i try yo enable the TxPID i cant save the update so im having issues with that as well.

So ive got the flight mode on the GCSset to s bus and channel 5. The the accessories set on channel 6, 7, 8, and 9.
But I still don't understand how to choose which channel uses which switch on the remote? What tells it which switch? Do I have to change a setting on the remote its self or what?
Am I suppose to plug in the other wire harness from the receiver port on the CC3D?

Yes in the radio probably a inputs page or channels and add the fifth one as accessory or whatever switch you want. And add as many additional Channels for accessories as you want. Usually slider or knobs for tuning with txpid. Lights and buzzer included. Then when you run the wizard it will see a switch that's on a channel and recognize it. Same for the other channels. And switches. On my Taranis/sbus....channel 5 is my 3 position flight mode switch. And accessory 0 (channel 6) is my arm 2 POS switch. Set them up in the radio first then run the wizard and it should recognize them.
Side note. For switch arming When I set up accessory 0 as channel 6 in radio and did the wizard it recognized it but the high and low end we're off. So the point at when the switch was off and then flicked on was below the threshold for it to actually do anything. So the GCS always thought it was in the off position. Just had to adjust the neutral point closer to the middle. Should not be a problem for a flight mode switch though.

I still just dont see how to do this.
I went into my radio and changed the inputs, or tried to at least.
Ill attach some pictures so you can see what I did.
After I changed the setting I went back into the GCS and I cant get the switches to work
in the radio setup.

I'm so sorry. Check your mixes screen. Do they automatically show in the mix screen. They might need to be added in the mixes screen as well. My inputs is just like yours so all good there. Do channel 5 as flight1 source as the switch.

First two are my mixes and inputs screen for flight mode switch

Inputs

I can see in your inputs graph it's not going from -100 to +100. I think setting it up as a mix as well, should do it. I guess I forgot. Every input needs its mix as well. Even if it's not "mixed" with anything, the Taranis needs to know what you want this switch to do. And the mixer does that. Just make every input you have a mix on that channel as well. Hope the pictures help

Forgot a mixer screen

In your inputs screen with graph you have switch towards the bottom set at the middle position. it should be nothing

Im not sure how its exactly setup but I go it to work. All I did was setup the MIXES screen. I deleted out the inputs that I had added.
Went back into the LibrePilot and got CH5 set to SG for my 3 flight modes, CH6 as S1 (Accessory 1) for my fine tuning, CH7 as S2 (Accessory 2) and then CH8 as SF (Accessory 0) for my "arming".
Found some video on youtube and tried it out. Seems to work.

Cool
Will something be affected if its not setup in the inputs as well like on your remote?

I'm not sure. I was under the impression of, if it works with the GCS its needs both input and a mixer. Just like the 4 control channels ele, ail, thr, rud. All three of my quads have both input and mixer for the flight mode and arm switches. I run an idle up as well but that's only set up as a mix on the throttle channel. And has nothing to do with the GCS side of things. I'm really not sure to be honest. The input is the "what" and the mixer is the "how" if that make sense.

IS there like some type of manual somewhere that will explain how to use the Frsky remotes a little better?
Like how to set them up more? what they can do?
