Hello,
a new release of the Next packages (r7xx), that includes all the improvements and fixes is to be expected soon? or ...
Thanks.
-
The most recent version of next is r796. The source code for r796 was tagged on 2019-04-30.
@f5soh would know more about when the next version of next would probably come out.
-
Thanks.
-
Are there builds for r796 available somewhere? I've only found r782. Thanks
-
I'm guessing that the powers that be haven't thought that there was enough after r782 to bother with building the latest (r796).
An interesting task might be for you to build your own from source. Look for for instance "Windows - Building and Packaging" if you are using Windows.

Maybe it will be easier for all of those who struggled to compile ... and don't have all the knowledge to debug and fix all the errors and so on ... to have a ready compiled build from the "heads", more wise of this forum. A google drive file or something like, until the download section of next will show a newer version. Maybe an "alpha" ? :~)
Sorry if I offended by mistake!

Maybe I don't understand. We already have that in the wiki.

There are only 4 changes from the latest there to the latest source and it seems it wasn't thought that a new version was worth building? :)
- LP-614 Sparky HoTT telemetry
- LP-613 cfGPS algo
Allows GPS position to be used for e.g. Hott telemetry to show up on your Hott transmitter screen.
- LP-612 Temperature module
put a sensor in the airstream, on your motor, or on your ESC and read the temperature via OpLink telemetry.
- LP-610 OPMapWidget::WPInsert fix
A fix to loading Revo GPS waypoing flight maps that have absolute locations in them.
My words and thoughts, not necessarily that of others here at LP. 8)
There are a few changes in the review queue and more in other states. Now considering that it's been over a year since a next release, and 4 years since an official release...
Maybe put out the word that we are going to try to do betas and a release in the next year and if you have code that LP needs in your back pocket, it's time to get it out. This also means that we need some real testing by users. This takes some effort by a good number of LP devs and users both.

OK, 2 years have past since last discussion and still no new build...
Life goes on 🙄.
-
We have been actively working to get the latest next released. I personally have been working full time on it for 2 months (I'm retired). Others are on it too.
We are trying to decide how much time to spend on getting new code written versus getting it out quicker with a another release relatively soon (not years) after that. If you can build next, you will see what the release will have in it.

Hello everybody and a Happy New Year 2023!
A final/next release build to wrapped up?! 😕
Thanks!
-
Sorry. I've been pulled away for a while. I have not been as active in helping get the release out I had hoped.
I will try to get back to helping get a release out.
Sorry. I don't have an estimate for when a new release will be ready.

Glad to see there is work still being done. I have been gone for about 2 years and thought I would check-in.
