Title: Led set up on revolution with ws2812 led strip
Post by: Ford55 on January 21, 2017, 01:16:28 am
Hi,
I plug my led strips to the pin4 of the FlexIO ports. Everything work great, got the light showing the FC status.
I want to be able to turn the led on and off, I have plenty of Chanel available since I use Ibus. How can I assign a switch to the led.

Also, should I get low voltage status from the FC? I'm running 4S battery, Where in the GCS I can set the low voltage value?

Thank you
Dan

We don't have a way to turn off the status LED.  You could design a circuit that would allow you to pass or block the signal from the Revo that goes to the LED.

The stock OP FC can't tell when the battery is low.  The 16v battery is regulated down to 5v and all the stock FC sees is 5v no matter what reasonable voltage the 16v battery is.  That is, you must use a voltage regulator / BEC / ESC with BEC to reduce the flight battery voltage down to about 5v.  Do not run the FC directly from the flight battery voltage!!!!!

Where do you want the low voltage status?  Generally we can display voltage and low voltage alarms in an OSD or (if you have telemetry) on the GCS.  This requires adding OSD hardware board or for display on a GCS laptop, at least making a cable with two resistors and doing some setup and calibration.  I also recall hearing that there was a development branch somewhere that can send telemetry it to a Taranis RC transmitter.

Of course you can buy a voltage sensor for your RC receiver if it has telemetry and display it on your transmitter if that has telemetry too.

Hello
Yes I do use a PDB to give juice to my flight contrĂ´ler:)
I want the battery alarm (blinking orange) to tell me when my voltage is too low, for now I don't want the value itself. Later on I'm gonna install a minimosd to get he voltage displayed on m'y fatshark. For now I don't fly FPV

Then you can probably just make the cable that has 2 resistors, do some setup, and calibration.

I will probably send the signal from my Rx flysky x6b) to the transmitters and put an alarm on it.
Thanks for the page, will give it a try and keep you inform

I would also like to make my own voltage monitor. The only thing I do not get from the page is what resistor wattage to use. Is it 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 or 1 watt resistors?

It doesn't really matter, with total series resistance of 10k plus the current is tiny.

Thank you. My LED strip is working perfectly! I will be adding the resistors for the voltage monitoring. Last question. It is a bit hard to understand the LED table located at "https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Setup+WS281x+Led" Can that be modified so that each LED do what I want it to do?
Thanks

No.  Unless you are a programmer.  :)

Sorry to hijack (slightly), when you set up the WS2812 strip, what does the 2nd LED in the chain do? They're individually addressable, do they all just show the same colour? Or do both the flight mode and alarms show on odd/even LEDs?

Unfortunately they all do show same info, same color.
