I have an older Cc3d board that I have been using open pilot gcs for. I tried switching to clean flight by following a few videos and had no luck. Now my board doesn't connect to open pilot, and just displayed a solid orange led.

Depending on whether or not you got far enough into putting CF on it to wipe out the bootloader there are two things to try:
The first one probably won't work but since it's easy try it https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Firmware+Rescue
If that doesn't work then your installation of CF got far enough to wipe out the OP/LP bootloader and you'll have to do a little more work. The article at http://www.southquay3d.com/index.php?route=news/article&news_id=9 explains the procedure.

Search the wiki for flashing a bootloader and make sure it has the latest. With CC3D this usually means an FTDI USB to serial adapter, a special cable from FTDI to CC3D, and soldering shorting the SBL jumper on the CC3D before you even get to messing with the flashing program. This is explained in the wiki.
