What is the pink arrow in the compass? Is that magnetic North detected by the mag compass?

Just the setpoint for heading while using assisted modes or autonomous fly.

Same magenta color is used for speed and altitude setpoints.

Can you give basic instructions to me on issuing waypoints during flight so the drone will fly there?

Basic instructions on setting up and flight modes and issuing the waypoint. Im guessing the last part is to simply create "magic waypoints"? I see the word magic waypoints on one of the map buttons.

Nothing magic, just use your mouse for Waypoints and define altitude / velocity for every Wp.
