How to setup arming switch using dx7
« on: July 25, 2016, 06:25:07 pm »
Hello everyone

Using cc3d and librepilot latest version with spektrum dx7 for my mini quad.
My tx is in airplane mode and i use gear channel to operate a discovery buzzer. Flaps 3 position switch is used for flight modes and i want to make aux2 switch an arming switch but can't figure out how.

Appreciate any advise
Tnx
Liran

I usually manage this with my dx8 , sometimes it takes a few attempts.
During TX wizard , after flight mode switch , (and presumably after you've set gear switch as accessory 0 , ) then try set the switch you want for arming , as accessory 1 ?
Then choose accessory 1 as arming.
Possible snags :
Switch seems to work in gcs.  But doesn't work as arming switch - set midpoint value a bit higher and save.
Also you may have to do something on an 'assign switches ' page on the tx.
Also , something is nagging me re number of channels available.

Thank you ernstock. Trouble is the switches on the dx7 besides the 3 position switch used for flight modes aren't recognised by the gcs. The bars aren't moving in the rc input screen when i choose them manually in the scroll bar options or if i use the transmiter wizard setup.

Are the switches assigned on the transmitter itself ?
On my (old) dx8 , it's system setup ( hold roller down when switching on) then scroll to switch select
, click on roller , have a look. They might be on 'inh' / inhibit.
Should also say that sometimes it's a matter of having a few goes through the set up wizard before the gcs picks up the switches. Or it is for me anyway.

And the " something nagging me re number of channels" -
If you are using spektrum pwm RX with 6 channels .......

I did define the rx hookup as pwm, so are you saying i can get only 6 channels this way? eventhough the rx has 7?

No , it's just that the spektrum pwm rx s that I've used in the past were 6 channels.
If no one else here can add anything it might be time to try rcgroups or there is a spektrum forum but I think you need a newly purchased tx to join (??)
Sorry I can't help more.
Regards
Ern.

Further thoughts :
If on pwm , then there are 8 wires to the receiver port , two being power to the rx , 6 others being one-signal-per-channel
….......
Suggesting you are maxed out at 4 for quad control , 1 for fm , 1 for alarm.
More channels available , I believe on ppm.
Lemon rx , 8 channel ppm with satellite has worked well for me.
Or satellite on its own.

OK, next time i tear it all apart and it's soldering time again i'll try satellite hookup. It takes soldering one leg to 3.3v port in the cc3d and now that everything is working well i see no need to fix what's not broken ;-)
Tnx again ;-)
